Interview with Lee
O'Donnell, Innkeeper Num-Ti-Jah Lodge, for Dreamers
and Doers.

Q:
Would Jimmy Simpson represent mountain culture?
A:
I would say that he exemplifies it more than most other folks do.
The reason I say that is that most other hotels and lodges – were
built by the railway - some corporations – there was something bigger
driving that whole engine. Jimmy
Simpson being truly an explorer an adventurer, a man that was really
passionate about the mountains and what he accomplished out here.
He
had a vision of a grand log and stone lodge on the shores of Bow Lake and
he achieved that on his own and really without any support of the government.
I’m sure he had some from his peers but he had to do a lot to
accomplish what he did here – and didn’t have a lot to do it with.
I would say Jimmy embodies the essence of what mountain culture is
to an individual.
