SHOWCASED IN THE CALGARY FILM FESTIVAL IN 2005
Scratch beneath the surface of this province and you won’t just find
oil. Speckled amidst the cowboys exists a vibrant world of artists.
From Medicine Hat to Demmitt and Cold Lake to Waterton, this multilayered
documentary displays an exciting industry of Albertan dreamers and doers
from all artistic disciplines. For this cinematic mosaic, filmmakers
filtered over 51 hours of footage they researched of music, dance, art,
history, pottery, schools, government, festivals and books. The final
compilation is this spectacular one-hour packed full of pure Albertan
diversity and features interviews from everyone like Bill Marsden and Jeff
Collins to Peter Lougheed and Doris Daley. Is the possibility of Alberta
being a rich arts cultured province surprising to hear? This
documentary will make you proud to be an Albertan and certainly show you
more than a few gems that you didn’t know about this oil-slinging, yahoo
howling province.
